The IBOX series: when a standard computer is not an option

Why the IBOX series is built the way it is: fanless aluminum construction, up to 6× COM ports, GPIO, and expansion for SCADA, machine vision, and factory automation.

Put an office desktop in a production cabinet and you have started a countdown. The fan pulls in conductive dust, vibration works connectors loose, summer heat throttles the CPU, and one day the line stops for a $600 reason. The IBOX series exists because that failure mode is entirely predictable — and entirely avoidable.

Design principles

  • No moving parts — the extruded aluminum chassis is the heatsink. No fan means no dust ingress path and no bearing to fail.
  • Industrial I/O — up to 6× COM (RS-232/422/485), GPIO on selected models, dual+ Intel LAN, and enough USB for scanners, dongles, and instruments.
  • Cabinet-ready mounting — wall, VESA, and DIN-rail options put the computer where the machine is.
  • Self-recovery — watchdog timers and BIOS auto power-on bring the system back without a technician.

The range at a glance

TierRepresentative modelTypical duty
EfficiencyIBOX-1226 — Celeron J6412, 3× 2.5G LAN, 4× COMData collection, gateways, light HMI
PerformanceIBOX-3026 — 11th-gen Core, 4× COM, dual LANSCADA stations, line control
High endIBOX-3226 — 12th-gen Core, up to 64GB, 4× HDMIVision, multi-display, historians

All tiers share the same philosophy: solid-state storage, wide-temperature tolerance by model, and configurations validated per project — processor, memory, storage, OS image, and mounting quoted as one bill of materials.

SCADA systems run production around the world, but the software conversation often skips the machine it runs on. We break down what SCADA is, why COM ports refuse to die, and what a reliable SCADA station computer looks like.
